Noughts and crosses
Use slide six as a noughts and crosses board to play as a class in two teams. You read out an instruction and each team marks a nought or cross on the matching symbol. Alternatively print the Activity: Noughts and crosses so the children can play the game in pairs with you reading out the instructions.

Using Activity: Match the symbol get the children to draw a line to match up the symbols and the words.
Get the children to design some bossy signs for the classroom.

Take it in turns to ‘bat’ an instruction word to your partner. To return the serve, the partner ‘bats’ back a different instruction, there must be no repetition. Loser of the rally is the first person to run out of original instruction words.
